This is truly sad. And I agree with WillWin that we need to do something. IV core has time and again stressed that they will not do anything for a certain EB group. I understand their stance. But every other EB group is getting help from somewhere. For EB3-I, forget getting help, we are actually losing every day forward.
I have lost hopes now, after reading this today. This may as well be my final post to IV. I will keep my recurring payment to IV going on. Hopefully it will help my EB2 friends get their GC and help those people (refer to the Indian friends voting for lawsuit against EB3 to EB2 porting) who want to further turn the screws on EB3-I. How much can you beat a man (or a group) that is already battered?

The Department of Justice estimates that one in five federal prisoners, and more than one in ten state prisoners in Nevada, are non-U.S. citizens. That is why I support the Department of Homeland Security's Immigration and Customs Enforcement initiatives that give state and local law enforcement the necessary tools to stem illegal behavior, such as the expansion of the Rapid Removal of Eligible Parolees Accepted for Transfer (REPAT) program. The REPAT program paroles non-violent criminal aliens serving state sentences so they can be deported. In Nevada, 2,560 criminal aliens were flagged for removal in Fiscal Year 2008 and 2,183 in Fiscal Year 2009. Reform is necessary and should be in America's best interests and not encourage additional illegal behavior.

Did anybody notice this in the IRS communication that was sent out to taxpayers:
For taxpyers, the amount of money will be "reduced" or " completely phased out" for individuals making adjusted gross income or more than $75K ( or more than $150 if married and filing jointly).
How about that?
Not surprising. People who earn $75K (single) or $150K (as a couple) are not the ones who drastically change their lifestyles because of recession or high gas prices. In fact these people are anyways earning much above the national average. It's the low/middle-income folks that bear the brunt of high inflation and soaring gas prices...they are the ones being goaded into spending.
Anyways, think twice before you spend the rebate foolishly. Why not send it to IV, contribute to an IRA or fund your kid's 529 plan?

I don't agree with you Gayatri.
As per my experience, America does not have more educated skilled engineers. I have couple of friends who are MS holders and cannot fit with BE level engineers in India. I am talking about those guys who were born and grew up in the US. Secondly, most of the engineering companies have asians as engineering managers and directors. He had mentioned that most of the industries in silicon valley were started by immigrants from China and India. Do u want to count them as engineers from US?? They are the top engineers from the asian countries. So i don't buy his comments.
So are you judging all of India's education by the IIT's? I didn't graduate from IIT and so didn't 99.9% of Indian IT people.
I can tell you for a fact that Universities in America are much better than those in India. This is why I came here and I went to an average university here which I could afford.
What Professor-ji said in the video was that Indians were successful DESPITE the poor education they received in India. India is becoming a world superpower in research and development DESPITE this. I believe this is true. Indians know how to compete and will be world leaders because they work hard and think smart.
Lets not fool ourselves at least!! We need to learn to accept the truth.

What you are saying is absolutely right and there is no doubt what you are doing is the need of this hour but my guess is most of the people who are still waiting from 2001.2002 or 2003 have some reasons to Not do it. For me my employer is not ready to take the pain of going thru another GC process, even though I pay all the expenses, and I am not able to find a sponsor, I'm sure there are many in similar situation..

So it doesnt matter how many numbers are pending in EB3 past years, its surely greater than the country limits based on past visa usage data. So it does make a lot of sense to port to EB2. Some one who applied in EB2 India in 2008 is likely to get GC before someone who applied in EB3 India 2003/2004 based on current situation.

Sorry to hear about your ordeals. The good news is that EB3- ROW should move forward at a good clip in a few months - some estimates from a lawyer I talked to seem to indicate a jump into early 2006 by the end of this year, so hang in there and remember that it is darkest before dawn.
If you are keen on a backup, have you considered immigrating to New Zealand? It is a great option if you need a peaceful life and the weather is just like California (unlike Canada) and they have universal health care too. For people who have worked in the US for a few years in recognized fields, NZ is quite easy to immigrate to and very quick. Your English seems to be quite good so I don't see why you should be so disheartened. I guess this advice also applies to Indians who are frustrated with the delays.

If you belong to the constituency (State) of the lawmaker, then tell them that you belong to their district/state and are calling to seek their help. If you are talking to a Senator office then tell them you are anxiously waiting for a Senators support for the immigration bill.
Then ask: What is the lawmaker’s position on immigration proposal? If the position is
- Supportive: Then thank the lawmaker office for it.
- If they oppose it: Then request them to support the high skilled green card provisions of the bill that will greatly help you. You sincerely hope that the lawmaker will reconsider his/her position and help you.
Be polite and persuasive in your message.
Question What if some Senators say they do not support amnesty. -
Answer "For last 10 years there has been no High-skilled immigration bill passed by the Congress. The world has changed in last 10 years. I understand that the Senator is a champion for creating more jobs in America. Employment based green cards will create jobs in America. I want to start my own company and hire people in America. But I cannot do that if I don't have a green card.
I would sincerely request you to please convey to the Senator if he would consider supporting some version of the immigration
giving more weight to green cards and creating jobs in America, or maybe the Senator could lead the effort for improving the proposal"
