Processing dates for 485 seems to have greatly improved at NSC. Hopefully now they start issueing based on the priority date.

people who do not support pd porting must *morally* refuse any pay hikes they get along the course of the GC journey, decline promotions offered at their workplace and must vehemently refuse any self help initiatives by the employer.
If they actually do that, they are both justified in opposing PD porting and they kinda give away their I.Q in the process! lol
Not to mention, if anyone of the above happens, they need to re-start their GC process *to be fair*!

The chances are very good that EB2-I, will move fast this year untill sept 2009,Row EB2 and EB1 will be slowed down because of economy,EB4 is already current and over flow from FB category may provide some more visas.
But the risks are USCIS indiscriminately and irrationally sits on applications with out approving them and for most of the July 2007 filiers finger prints has expired but USCIS is not sending finger printing notices.

In months of June, Jul and Aug , many EADs & APs are up for renewal due to July07 fiasco. So by moving dates forward, USCIS can cash in lot of reveue as it has to issue only 1 yr EAD in that case. If the dates are not current, they will have to issue 2 yr EAD and although they dont mean to approve many cases, I tend to think they will keep moving dates forward.

I�ve been waiting for my US permanent resident visa -also known as "Green Card" for the past several years along with 500,000 other educated, highly skilled employment based (EB) immigrants. Many of us have been waiting for our turn to get Green Cards for 5-10 years while consistently abiding by all the laws of this country. Such long delays are due to tortuous and confusing paper work, backlogs due to various quotas and processing delays at US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), other allied state and federal agencies.
Several categories of EB immigrant visa (Green Card) numbers were unavailable (�retrogressed�) since the fall of 2005. Because our immigrant petitions are tied to the sponsoring employer.
For the past several decades, the US Department of State (DOS) has been publishing advisories known as visa bulletins once a month to announce the availability of immigrant visa numbers. On June 13, 2007, after a gap of nearly two years, DOS announced that all EB visa numbers would be �current� for the month of July. This meant, irrespective of our �priority date� (date assigned to us for our turn in the line for Green Cards), all of us were made eligible to apply for some interim immigration benefits. This �priority date� refers to the date when our labor certification (documentation verifying no US citizen worker was available for a given job) had been filed.
Please note that 6/13 DOS announcement would not have led to immediate green card for most of us; but at least it would have ensured us interim benefits such as the right to travel and right to work for any employer- this was still a welcome change. Especially, for dependent spouses who are otherwise unable to work, this would have translated into right to travel and work without restriction and thus channel their energies positively. Several dependent spouses are also highly-skilled.
Tens of thousands of applicants spent thousands of dollars in legal fees, immigration medical exams & vaccinations & getting various supporting documents ready to file our immigrant petitions to USCIS, at times inconveniencing our old parents in our home countries as well. It has been an agonizing two weeks for us. Some of us to had to fly in our spouses from our home countries or have had to cut short business trips. Hundreds of millions of dollars were spent by thousands of immigrants in preparation of their application. To our shock and dismay, on the morning of July 2nd 2007, USCIS announced that EB visa numbers were not available and all petitions filed in July would be rejected.
For the legal skilled immigrants this has been a rather traumatizing and disheartening experience. These are people that are in the country legally, paid taxes and followed all the rules.
We sincerely seek immediate congressional/ legislative remedial measures which would
(1)Reduce the enormous backlogs of green card petitions of legal skilled immigrants
(2)Ensure and request USCIS not to reject our immigrant visa petitions filed in July and provide us interim benefits of a pending immigrant visa petition. We make this sincere request with the hope that people who played by the rules will be rewarded.

We just need 20,000 active members to make a change, which is approx 10% of the total number of GC apps pending. At the most 2000 people are active.
If somebody can being in 20,000 active members to this forum, the change will happen.
I dont think all the 20,000 members need to be active every day or every week. What is that you are expecting them to be active every day. If we are not able to pull the crowd, it is not the inability of the crowd but the leadership. Crowd whether it is Indian or other is always like that. It is the effective leadership that makes the difference. For example if you take Martin Luther King, Gandhi or for that matter any leader, it is their speeches/actions that inspired people to involve in the movement not just the people came all by themselves.

Me and my wife's 485s had LUDS on 2/18, 2/19 and 2/20. But no status change, and we know for sure we should be getting atleast one RFE. When we applied in July 07 we could not include my Wife's medical/vaccination reports with the application, but no RFE for that yet.

Yes its a very serious issue. As chandu mentioned earlier more action items are coming soon to fight this. But in the meantime please show your support and your willingness to fight this - if you havnt sent the mail yet, please do it and vote in the poll above. Hi ita,
The project and the CMs speech indictaed that Hydereabad will be a major city in 3-4 decades not just in India but the entire world. Its upto you, how you want to interpret that message from CM.
In the short term (few months probably), prices may catch up because of the hype that this is generating.
I am not in a position to give any suggestion on land price movements in India and especially Hyderabad is highly volatile.
If i were you, i would definitely wait untill the elections.

Looks like IL is the place to get the license. No questions asked and you will get 5 years. I just had my license renewed for 5 years in Aug 2008 by mail even though my H1 expires in Oct 2009.
Hi Friends, I went to DMV PA (Bridgevile) to renew my drivers license recently. They are not accepting original EAD/ AP, copy of 485 receipt plus employer letter. They are asking for original 485 receipt. Unfortunately my ex-employer did not give the original receipt.

My take is that Sen. Cornyn's bill is too ambitious and tries to solve ALL the problems. It is never going to fly, especially in this political environment.
We should focus on EB retrogression relief and try to get in only the absolute minimum relief needed to eliminate current backlogs.
In my opinion, this is the absolute minimum:
1) Clear DOL backlogs in BECs
2) Recapture lost visa numbers
3) Dont count dependants
4) Raise per-country cap to 10%
If we can only these rolled in to amendment, it should be easy to pass. We can start an awareness initiative to educate the senators and ensure it passes. If we shoot for too much, its next to impossible. Thats the sad reality.

Well said. On top of all this, there is a huge social pressure on NRIs from Indian parents/relatives to buy a property in India. It goes like this, if Hari, Babu and Kanwal all have it, why don't you buy something in Delhi as well. Now builders have started talking in terms of crores. You call them and ask the price, they would say "point six", means zero point six crores (for 1200 sq ft 2 BHK). There is no way on this earth someone should pay that much for 1200 sq ft in Noida/Delhi/Anywhere in India.
My advise, let people, relatives say what they want to say. This market is bound to come down. Just wait and see. Thank you.

Here is my point. I spend several hours 3-4 hours at least every day looking through the forum posts hoping to find ways i can contribute to efforts. There are several ideas that are generated in the forum. But cannot find out who is leading it. All i am saying is if we can have a listing of initiatives with some names associated. So i can contribute to the ones that i can support. I am not sure if i am asking for too much here. I am not a IT guy. I do not know what it takes to post it in the front page.

My PD is Dec. 04, and my I-485 was filed during the july fiasco in 2007. My PD was current since March 08 until it will become "unavailable" in June 08.
My attorney got update from Nebraska SC in May stating "Your case is in queue for green card." Now what will happen to my case since EB-3 ROW will be unavailable in June? Does that mean an IO once opened my file after March and will close it without processing any further because of the change in the June Visa Bulletin?
I am confused. Please share your insights and experiences.

Your PD in EB3 for ROW will be back into track in October 2008 as its said in the current visa bulletin dated Jul 2008 for EB3 preference. Process must be automated and centralized to eliminate any human intervention in performing guesstimates. A pool of visas must be made available in the system and must remain available for the next year to be carried over if needs be. That would eliminate pressure on officials to play the game in the dark and rush like maniacs at the end of the fiscal year to catch frogs!
